While my mother-in-law was in town awaiting the arrival of Baby #3 we visited The Skystar Wheel located near Smale Park. This was also right after I had purchased Hulk's cub scout uniform and he was so excited he insisted on wearing it everywhere.
Hulk and Little Viking Girl loved the experience of the Skystar but it was pricey. It's not something I would have taken the kids to (in fact, I had previously said no on several occasions because of the price). But I have a kind and indulgent mother-in-law who was willing to let Hulk live his dream of riding a ferris wheel.
When we went there were a few other people but not real line so we didn't have to wait long for our turn. I had read some reviews online saying that the inside of the carriages smelled but I disagree. The whole ride was maybe ten minutes and consisted of going around four times. There were great views south onto the riverfront and into Kentucky but not in the other directions. The Skystar is located just south of downtown and has to compete with skyscrapers to the north.
It was fun but for the price it seemed short. I am grateful to my mother-in-law for taking us but it's not something we'll ever do again (sorry Hulk).
