Basketball

The Campbells are a basketball playing family. They like watching and participating in most sports but I believe that they enjoy basketball the most.

Also J, his brother, and his dad have all coached basketball at various middle and high school levels.

Hulk has no hope.

J got it into his head that he really wanted to sign Hulk up for basketball this year. I was lukewarm at best about the idea because while he does great at soccer practices, getting him ready on game day is difficult. He does not want to go.

He's not very aggressive, he doesn't like making mistakes which means he doesn't like trying, he doesn't like running because it makes you breathe heavy, and he just wants to play legos in his room or play minecraft.

He really likes playing minecraft and is constantly asking to play it. But I am terrified that he'll end up a 20 year old who hasn't graduated from high school and is living on my couch playing video games.

Not that I'm referencing a particular brother of mine or anything.

THIS ISN'T ABOUT YOU, ERIK.

Anyways, I just couldn't picture him playing basketball. And J works Saturdays which would mean that I would have to take him to the games and maybe the practices too (depending on when they were held) with two other kids in tow.

It seemed like something that J really wanted me to do because he liked the idea but he wasn't going to be able to get any other enjoyment out of it and it was going to be a lot of work for me. So he worked out the practices so that he could coach the team (originally, practices were going to be held before he got off of work) and he scheduled his PTO for a few hours each Saturday so he could go to the games.

There have been four games so far.

I think he's a better basketball player than a soccer player.

He's more aggressive and he's more willing to try to score points for the team.

But it could also be how the sport is played at this age.

I don't know.

But, I do know that he enjoys it a lot more than soccer. There's a lot less complaining and he'll ask J if they can stay after the game to practice together.

Which I think is super cute :)

Right before the first game

And I only read a book when he's sitting on the bench, not while he's playing because that's how I feel about basketball (and most sports). ;)
